The Church Office Staff can tell you how to contact any of the LUF Trustees.

Any of the Trustees will be happy to help you and to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to contact them via email, by phone, or in person at church. Each member serves a four-year term. If you are interested in becoming a candidate for an opening on the LUF Board of Trustees, contact the Church Nominating Committee. A job description for the Trustee position is given below.

Board of Trustees Job Description

Committee Responsibilities are to:
  • Solicit and receive donations in the form of bequests or outright gifts of cash, real estate, securities. Non-cash donations are converted to cash and invested.

  • Establish and manage various allocated funds with these donations: general endowment funds for undesignated gifts and in-memoriam funds as requested by a donor for a particular purpose.

  • Invest prudently the monies received in order to provide long-term growth and investment income for the funds at a reasonable level of risk.

  • To promote the growth of the Weatherly Society and to recognize regularly its members.

Duties of the President are to:

  • Call meetings, according to the Bylaws, at least quarterly.

  • Request quarterly financial statements from the Church Treasurer.

  • Ensure that gifts are honored and properly recorded for posterity.

  • Guide the process of soliciting new donations.

  • See that the investment subcommittee is reviewing regularly the assets and recommending, when necessary, proper investment strategies.

  • Facilitate the process of making written policies that establish standard procedures to be followed when accepting gifts, making investments, etc.

  • Report to the Congregation semiannually about Foundation activities and assets, an oral report at the January Congregational Meeting, and a written report at the May Congregational Meeting.

  • Keep the Congregation informed about the Foundation through occasional reports (LUF NOTES) in the church newsletter.

  • Ensure that the Bylaws of the Lincoln Unitarian Foundation are being followed.

  • Attend, or send a representative to, Finance Council Meetings as necessary.
Time Commitment

Trustees of the Lincoln Unitarian Foundation serve four-year terms and are eligible for one additional term.

Election of officers is held within 30 days after new trustees are appointed at the May meeting of the church Board of Trustees. President, Vice President, and Secretary serve one-year terms, and are eligible for additional terms.
