The LUF adopted the system of participation detailed below in late 2002. We are always happy to receive gifts at any level. Contact a member of the LUF Board of Trustees if you have any questions or concerns.

The Weatherly Society

This special legacy society, created in 2002, is named for the Rev. Dr. Arthur Weatherly, who served as minister of the Unitarian Church of Lincoln from 1908 to 1920 and again from 1929 to 1942. He and his wife, Clara, inspired a socially active congregation and shaped this church and the larger Lincoln community.

Weatherly Society Founders — Those who donated $1,000 or more to the Lincoln Unitarian Foundation on or before December 31, 2002, or a memorialized person in whose name gifts totaling $1,000 or more that were received by December 31, 2002. Founders' names are listed as Weatherly Society Founders on a wall plaque in the church.

Weatherly Society Members — Those who donate a lump sum gift of $1,000 or more to the Lincoln Unitarian Foundation after December 31, 2002, or a memorialized person in whose names gifts totaling $1,000 or more are received after December 31, 2002, will become Weatherly Society Members. Members' names will be displayed as Weatherly Society Members on the wall plaque in the church with their permission or, in the case of memorialized persons, their representatives' permission. Members will be thanked and recognized by the Foundation in appropriate ways.

Weatherly Society Builders for the Future — A donor who indicates a future gift of $1,000 or more as evidenced by submission of a "Gift Agreement" will become a Builder for the Future.

Builders for the Future will be thanked and recognized by the Foundation in appropriate ways. When their gift to the Foundation is received, the Builder becomes a Member of the Weatherly Society and his/her name will be displayed on the Weatherly Society Members wall plaque in the church.

Contributors

Those who donate gifts of less than $1,000 in a single year to the Lincoln Unitarian Foundation will be thanked and recognized appropriately by the Foundation. Gifts of less than $1,000 will not, however, qualify Contributors for membership in the Weatherly Society. Contributors will be cultivated as donors and encouraged to become Members of the Weatherly Society.

NOTE: Appropriate thanks and recognition may include but are not limited to letters of thanks, listing in the church newsletter, invitations to special gatherings honoring or providing information to donors, and receipt of special tokens of thanks.

Adopted November 12, 2002
