John Leguizamo, Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes with Nebraska extras during filming in Loma, Nebraska

Just as Vida, Noxeema and Chi Chi have their preconceptions of small town life changed, so did the cast and crew, most of whom were from New York and Los Angeles and had never spent time in the Midwest. Nearly everyone was taken in by Nebraska's subtle beauty and tranquility as well as the friendliness and warmth of the people who lived there. Days spent shooting in Loma felt like summer camp, and idle Sundays were passed relaxing at many of the region's magnificent parks and lakes.

For the climactic Strawberry Social, more than 100 extras were hired from Loma and surrounding communities.
