some of the things I wonder about:
- Why so many people believe urban
legends: These are tales about something that happened to a friend of a friend
but could happen to YOU. They are cautionary tales, ranging from stories of
alligators in sewers to e-mails about kidney thieves to news reports about temporary
tattoos saturated with LSD. They are all around us, so here are a couple links to
help you sort them out:
- Why some people do really stupid things that often mean they won't do any more... the Darwin Awards
- Why we have Daylight Saving Time: I think that DST doesn't save time, but
wastes it
- Why so many people don't see anything wrong with Microsoft's domination of the
software industry
- Why so many people think the World Wide Web is the entire Internet and why the World Wide
Web is growing so fast
- Why people are so concerned with being politically correct
- Why so many people think that the start of the millennium occurs a year
before the correct year: The only good thing about this is that you can enjoy two great New Year's celebration, the popularly proclaimed one and the real one.
