Kansas City Comicon, June 5-6, 2004

The Gerber script and Nowlan art may have gone too dear, but I didn't come away empty handed. I outbid one of the show's dealers to come away with this sketchboard personalized by some of the convention's special guests. (The digital photo sacrifices quite a bit of each superb drawing.)

From top left: Ragman by Hester and Parks, Morpheus by P. Craig Russell (more about this later), a classic Prince Namor by Alan Weiss, a well-known monster by Kevin Nowlan, and Steve Gerber's autograph ("WAAUGH!").

I went to the con as a member of the Comic Creators Network, an inspiring group of talented and productive artists from the Kansas City area. The group's table displays the member's offerings. Shawn Geabhart draws, with  membership director Jennifer Stinson behind.

Mark Stinson (adjusting his hat) produced the group's two highly-successful  Show & Tell anthologies. From left: artist, death-metal enthusiast and Monty Python fanatic Mickmo, Stinson, Geabhart (still drawing), J. Stinson, and just a little bit of Joyce visible above Shawn.
