The Thanksgiving Turkey

The Turkey has become a symbol of the Thanksgiving celebration. The turkey is native to northern Mexico and the eastern United States. It was later domesticated in Mexico, and was brought into Europe early in the 16th century.

The turkey has brown features all around and buff-colored feathers on the tips on the wings and tail. The male turkey is called a Tom, and is bigger, brighter and has more colorful features than the female turkey. The female is called a Hen, and is generally smaller and plain in color.
