Local News

May 22, 2005--Thanks to the efforts of Brad, KGØGY, and his crew, the Lincoln Amateur Radio Club sponsored a very special one-day Special Event Station commemorating the one-year anniversary of the May 22, 2004 Hallam Tornado, and celebrating the spirit and resilience of the people of Hallam and other Southeast Nebraska communities affected by this devastating tornado.
Several operators helped keep WØH on the air, and everyone had an opportunity to visit old and new friends in the Hallam area, as well as many of the volunteers, Emergency Management and Red Cross staff. It was good to see so much progress in the area as people continue to rebuild their homes, communities and lives.
From our Skywarn activities on the night of May 22 through damage assessment and recovery, 225 LARC volunteers contributed 1448 hours and drove a total of 12,007 miles.
This is what ARES and LARC are all about. Thanks everyone!
