This guitar has a great variety of tones because of the multitude of settings. The Pearly Gates Humbuckers can be played with a warm tone or a bright and screaming lead tone. You can switch to single-coil mode for a Fender-like sound from one or both pickups. The soft alder and lace wood mix provide a warm sound and the maple through-body neck and inset tune-o-matic bridge provide great sustain. This is a great guitar that I designed to be similar to my Gibson SG with regard to access to the upper frets. The Big Red has a 25-inch scale length and 24 frets. The neck is shaped to provide easy access to the high frets and the neck is a bit narrower than the SG.
