Spring Break ~ March 1996

East Coast of Texas

My friend, Lisa, from Oklahoma State University and I, along with our sons, Chance and Tony took a wonderful "go where the wind blows us" vacation for spring break! We headed south toward the east coast of Texas in search of a sunny beach. However, a freak cold front had moved in, so we kept on the move in pursuit of that sunny beach. Our adventure took us to Galveston where we hung out on the pier and rented some riding horses, then on to Port Lavaca where we pitched our tent and I saw my first Dolphin in the wild. From there we continued south and ended up pitching our tent on Mustang Island where we just about blew into the Gulf of Mexico when the freak cold front hit there! We gathered the tent, sand and all, the boys and headed on to Corpus Christi in the middle of the night where we stayed at a hotel. After that we headed north up the middle of Texas stopping off in San Antonio where we did some sight seeing. Then we headed up to Austin were we stayed the night at Lisa's cousins. The next day we headed to Dallas where we goofed off for the day then we headed back home to Stillwater, Oklahoma
