~ This Big Lonely House ~

Subject: On empty nest syndrome

by Deborah E. Kirkpatrick

It looks so empty
And it feels so cold
I get a shiver
When I enter it

It looks so big
And feels so lonely
I shed a tear
When I think about it

This big lonely house
Will it ever be filled
With people, with love, with laughter
Again

Shall I sell it
And move
to a small apartment
A small cozy apartment...

That would look so empty
And feel so cold
That I would get a shiver
When I entered it

That would look so small
And feel so lonely
That I would shed a tear
When I thought about it
