OLIVER

660
(1959-1964)

Oliver updated their model Super 77 & Super 88 tractors to the 770 & 880 tractors in 1958 with more horsepower, new sheet metal, grill, dash and a change in paint scheme to the Clover White wheels & grill.   At this time the demand for horsepower was increasing, thus Oliver did not redesign the Super 66 when they changed it to the 660.   Production began in 1959.   The only updates the 660 got was the increased horsepower and Clover White wheels & grill.   The sheet metal, dash and grill remained the Super 66 style.   The tractor became a full three plow tractor with a cylinder bore increase to 3 5/8”, an increase in rated RPM to 2000 and compression raised to 7.75 : 1.

This tractor's engine crankcase was cast in Charles City on October 6, 1958 & the transmission housing was cast on November 12, 1958.   Assembly was completed on January 14, 1959, it's the 14th one built.   It was built for "Stock" and was shipped to the Omaha Branch on January 27, 1959, then retailed near Topeka, KS.   The tractor now is equiped with Belt Pulley, Three Point Hitch and Front Wheel Weights on an adjustable front axle.   As it is now equipped, it weighs 4185 lbs.

Total production for the 660 was 1454, however 371 were Special build, thus 1083 were built as a tractor.   Some late production were painted in Cockshutt colors for the Canadian market, however the Cockshutt tractors were built in very limited numbers.
